How Long Do Power Racks Last?

In this article, we are going to give you an estimate on how long can a power rack realistically last in India, due to the hot & humid climate across various regions in India durability becomes a major concern as most people are spending a significant amount of money on their racks and want it to last a long time.

Realistically speaking a power rack has the ability to last an entire lifetime if it is used and kept indoors where there is no direct contact with rain, moisture, and sunlight, or consider changing seasons. This durability drastically changes when kept outdoors, let me explain the various factors affecting the durability of your rack.

WHERE IS IT KEPT?

If kept in an open environment like this the power rack will probably not last an entire lifetime, or at least will seriously compromise its build quality. Power racks are made from metal and coated with powder coating to prevent rusting, however, most are not designed to be used outdoors in rain, heat, and changing seasons. Metal rusts the most when exposed to rainwater and high humidity which is very common in India.

No matter how good the coating is, you will see the coating wearing off with time which will expose the metal underneath and it will start severely rusting in just a few days. Power racks are not meant to be used outdoors if you care about the durability of your rack.

Now your power rack will not break down suddenly one day if you use it outdoors however it seriously compromises the quality of the metal.

QUALITY OF YOUR POWER RACK

Some racks are just not made from very high-quality steel and no this does not mean that the metal will break down however it does mean that you might grow out of it very soon. A thin sheet of metal if used in an upright of a power rack will just not offer you the stability you are looking for, you can get started with it, but you will soon outgrow it as you start lifting heavier.

Thinner metal build quality which basically means the gauge of the power rack, if above 14 gauge or so will just provide too less thickness to sustain heavier loads over time. It might not break but will definitely be prone to bending, and once it bends it will compromise the whole stability of the rack as well as become useless.

However, a good quality power rack certainly has the capability to last in top-notch condition if used indoors. The metal gauge and thickness are great to sustain heavier loads over time as well no matter how much weight you throw on it and these racks are also drop-tested to check for bending.

The powder coating on these racks will sustain when used indoors hence there are no chances of rust forming, even the bolts, and screws used in these racks are hard chrome coated which provides great rust resistance and overall with these racks you won't have to worry about the rack getting rusted and when it doesn't the durability will be way higher and it can become the last rack you will ever need to buy.

WARRANTY

You would definitely want to look out for a warranty when buying a power rack. You will see power racks on amazon coming with no warranty mentioned or just providing a 1-year warranty, which is just pathetic and shows the poor quality materials used that the manufacturer is not confident about. Power racks are just a bunch of steel and if someone has no confidence in the steel even lasting 1 year, that is a big problem.

Companies like siege fitness offer you a lifetime warranty for their racks, so if anything goes wrong in your entire lifetime, they will fix it but this just shows you the confidence of the manufacturer with the quality of their products. Another company bullrock fitness offers 10 years structural warranty on their racks. Power racks are not a piece of equipment that you can spend less on and get good quality.
